DAY ONE
Exercises likely to include
The One-minute challenge: An initial look at personal impact and communication styles, using an approach to the ‘elevator pitch.’
Business Presentation: A formal or semi-formal presentation, prepared in advance to a supplied brief.
In the light of feedback on this session, delegates will be required to revise their presentation for Day Two.
Question time: Delegates face searching, challenging and even aggressive questions from the consultants and from their colleagues.
Content likely to include:
- Impression management – the importance of non-verbal communication
- Recognising your own expertise/leadership
- Empathy: what it means and how to make it work for you
- Positive language and how to use it
- The ‘elevator pitch’: how to be clear but concise
- Dealing with questions
Exercises likely to include
Business Presentation revisited: A chance for delegates to demonstrate their personal learning from Day One through a revised version of their initial presentation. Focus will be on impact, empathy and influence through verbal and non-verbal means.
One-on-one meetings: Delegates are challenged to transfer their learning into a more intimate and informal setting – the face-to-face meeting. This will involve role-play based on a scenario supplied by the participant.

- The power of persuasion
- Defining what you want to achieve from a meeting
- Understanding the other person's agenda
- Actively listening, clarifying and summarizing
- Rounding up and ensuring Action
